The picture of mums at the clinic is from a baby competition in 1957. If anyone can help me with any names?

Right hand end of back row Mrs Adams, resident of Lawn Ave, sons Mark and Johnathan.

Second in on the left is Mavis Boughton (nee Cook) she's holding Anita, the lady to her left is my late Aunt Eileen Darwood (nee Boughton) and she's holding my late cousin Andrew.

The lady second on the right is Mrs Johnson from Sycamore Avenue ,I've never seen this photo before . How lovely she's holding my brother Andrew

My mother took me to the Child Health Clinic in Lawn Avenue in the early 1960's. Information from Lynne Purkiss (nee Mizon) in the Guest Book suggests it was there 10 years earlier. The press cutting below tells us that it was planned in 1955, and probably opened a year or so later.

This is the only picture I have of the clinic. It is the porch on the right hand side, I suppose this was intended to house prams, but it made the entrance a bit strange.

The other photo I have of this area is of the old firestation, which must have been next door as it was in use until 1964. I think the photo must have been taken before 1950 as there is clearly an open space between the Station and St Pauls Road, Welland Rd junction in the top left hand corner.

In 1990 the Meet A Mum Association toddler group met at the child health clinic, we had an Easter party and the children dressed up in Easter bonnets.

The health visiting service moved from there to the Acorn centre on Scalford drive in around 2003/2004. The building had bad subsidence hence one of reasons for moving.

The Child Health Clinic part of the building was demolished in 2009.
