St Georges School was a school for children with severe learning difficulties in Lawn Ave.
St George's, in Lawn Avenue, first opened in 1959 as a training centre for young people and adults with learning difficulties, in the 1960's the country's education system changed and St Georges became a Special Needs School in 1971.
It closed in 2004 when it merged with Clayton School to become the Phoenix School.
Brian Rudgeley was the head teacher for 28 years before he retired in 2003.
