Probate Notice:
Turner Thomas, Effects under £200.
22 October 1869 The will of Thomas Turner late of Dogsthorpe in the Parish of St John the Baptist Peterborough in the County of Northampton. Baker deceased who died 4 July 1869 at Dogsthorpe aforesaid was proved at Peterborough by the oaths of Richard Perkins of Dogsthorpe aforesaid Farmer, and Isaac Edis of Dogsthorpe aforesaid Farmer the Executors.
Alice, his wife died in October 1868.
I wondered why with 5 children the executors of Thomas' will seemed to be unrelated. So I had a look to see what happened to his children.
Martha Turner b 1825 married John Hanger in 1843. In 1851 they were living in Wisbech St Peter, Cambs. They had 3 children. John died in 1852. In 1871 Martha is living at 1 Dogsthorpe Rd, St Pauls, with Alice E Twelvetree age 11, who is her niece. She is described as a retired grocer.
George Turner b 1831, in 1871 after his father's death he is living in Werrington. In 1881 he was in Rastrick Yorks, and in 1891 and 1901 he is in Reddish, Lancs. He was an Ag Lab. He married Kezia Faulkner, in 1852 and appear to have 4 daughters, He died in 1903 in Cheshire.
Mary Turner b1831: finding Alice with her aunt gave me a clue to either Alice or Mary's husband. The Twelvetrees feature prominently in the Methodist centenary articles but this is a generation earlier. Mary married George Twelvetree in 1854, they had 3 children. Both Mary and George Twelvetree died in January 1862, leaving 3 young children. George's probate notice names Thomas Turner, Baker of Dogsthorpe as Grandfather and Guardian.
